Announcing our 2012 Season
The 39 Steps Dec. 31 - Feb. 11
The 39 Steps comes straight from Broadway to start off HCTO's 22nd season. This show is based on Alfred Hitchcock's 1935 film which follows Richard Hannay through a series of twists, turns and romantic intrigue. Four talented performers play all roles, some at the same time, in this spy-thriller that is part farce, part parody, and all comedy and laughs.
Xanadu Feb. 23 - April 7
Based on the 1980s film starring Olivia Newton-John, this show follows Sonny, a sidewalk chalk artist who fails miserably. He decides he's lost his gift and his reason to live. But Clio descends in the disguise of a roller-skating, Australian-accented, leg-warmer-wearing, muse to rekindle Sonny's love of art and love of life. A musical hit direct from Broadway. REALLY, YOU'LL LOVE IT!
The Secret Garden April 19 - June 2
On the 20th anniversary of its opening on Broadway, HCTO presents The Secret Garden. The story is an adaptation of the 1911 novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett. Mary Lennox is 11 years old, orphaned and spoiled. Moving to her uncle's mansion she finds more secrets than just the mysterious garden. As those secrets unfold she learns how isolation and selfishness can be overcome by caring for something as simple as a garden, and as profound as a soul.
Crazy For You June 14 - Aug. 4
The timeless tale of big-city boy falling for small-town girl is told through the equally timeless tunes of George and Ira Gershwin. Billed as "The New Gershwin Musical Comedy", this celebration of the American musical and the unconquerable American spirit won the 1992 Tony Award for Best Musical. Filled with music, dancing, sentiment and showmanship, don't miss the show the New York Times called "riotously entertaining."
Arsenic and Old Lace August 16 - Sept. 22
A newly engaged couple; two genteel, kind, and deadly aunts; a homicidal brother and his plastic-surgeon sidekick; and an uncle who thinks he is Teddy Roosevelt. Put them all together and watch the hilarious pandemonium that follows. A macabre and charming farce that will forever change the way you look at family and window seats. New York Times' opening night review said, "this play was so funny that none of us will ever forget it." Come see why!
South Pacific Oct. 4 - Nov. 24
Good things come to those who wait, and following years of waiting HCTO has at long last secured the rights to this Rodgers and Hammerstein classic musical.
A Christmas Carol Nov. 30 - Dec. 22 (not included on Season Ticket)
Come celebrate both tradition and spirit in this annual production of the story that popularized the phrase and recipe for a "Merry Christmas."
