KID CLASSES

MINI-MUSICAL WORKSHOP (Session 1)

What:  

So you wanna be in a musical?! Well, now's your chance! In this workshop, you will be given part to learn, songs and dances to perfect, and a chance to be in the spotlight! This class is always a hit, so don't miss out!

Who: Ages 7-12

When: January 10th* - February 3rd; Mondays & Fridays from 4:00pm-5:30pm (*1st class is on Tuesday, remaining classes will be on Mondays & Fridays. We WILL hold class on MLK day.)

BROADWAY DANCE WORKSHOP 1

What:  

Whether you’re an experienced dancer, or if you’ve never taken a class, this class is for you! For students to gain confidence and progress in their dance ability, it is important to study dance separately from singing and pure acting. In this class, we will focus on learning technique, body awareness and dance styles that are common when performing in musical theater. We will work on acting and storytelling through dance while sharpening dance skills so that students can feel confident in a dance call, and progress to land dance roles in local and school theater productions, but most importantly to have fun meeting new friends and moving their bodies whether they are breaking out of their comfort zone, or honing their abilities. 

Who: Ages 10-13

When: January 4th – March 8th; Wednesdays from 4:00pm-5:00pm

COMEDIC ONE ACT PLAY WORKSHOP

What:  

Join us in learning the ins and outs of comedic acting through this one-act play! Students will each be given a part to learn and direction on how to implement comedic elements such as character voices, physical comedy and comedic timing!   

Who: Ages 7-12

When: February 6th – March 3rd; Mondays & Fridays from 4:00pm-5:30pm (We will have rehearsal on President's Day)

THEATRE ARTS HOMESCHOOL (Spring Semester)

What:  

Students will participate in a weekly class where our professionally trained faculty will teach them to increase their skills in improvisation, auditioning, monologues, scene study, and performing in a showcase!

Who: Ages 10-18

When: January 9th – April 24th; Mondays from 12:00pm - 1:30pm (No classes January 16th, February 20th or April 3rd)

TEEN CLASSES

BROADWAY DANCE WORKSHOP 2

What:  

Whether you’re an experienced dancer, or if you’ve never taken a class, this class is for you! For students to gain confidence and progress in their dance ability, it is important to study dance separately from singing and pure acting. In this class, we will focus on learning technique, body awareness and dance styles that are common when performing in musical theater (Broadway, Disney, Cruise ships, etc…). Students will gain confidence in their dance ability, their comfortability when doing a dance audition, as well as learn or review terms helpful for picking up dances quickly. Dance is an integral part of musical theater, and every student deserves to feel confident in their ability as a performer, and this class will help prepare them to land dance roles in local and school productions, as well as continue their training for a professional career if that is something they aspire to attain.

Who: Ages 14-18

When: March 15th – May 17th; Wednesdays from 4:00pm-5:00pm

ADULT CLASSES

JANUARY ADULT ACTING LAB (Script Analysis)

What:  

Working with modern text, we will explore how to prepare for performance using script analysis. Exercises will include preparing for cold reads, identifying character objectives, beat changes, breath, and thought groups. You will leave this course understanding how to be ready for your first day of rehearsal, or your next callback. 

Who: Ages 18+

When: January 7th - January 28th; Saturdays from 3:30pm - 5:30pm

FEBRUARY ADULT ACTING LAB (Listening and Acting on Impulse)

What:  

Using improvisation techniques, and games, we will develop the ability to actively listen, quiet that inner voice of doubt, and learn to turn your focus outward and onto your scene partner. You will leave this course with the ability to quickly make creative decisions, and feel less fear during auditions and performance.

MARCH ADULT ACTING LAB (Creating Character Through Movement)

What:  

Utilizing Viewpoints, Laban movement, the Alexander Technique, and Pantomime, we will learn to create character from the outside in. Students will leave the course with the ability to physically transform into character.

When: March 4th - March 25th; Saturdays from 3:30pm - 5:30pm

APRIL ADULT ACTING LAB (Storytelling)

What:  

Learn to craft a perfect story for sharing at home, during a public speech, a storytelling festival, or around the campfire. Using principles of improv, playwriting, physical theatre, and stand-up comedy, you will work on crafting a personal story that can be told larger than life!

Who: Ages 18+

When: April 1st - April 22nd; Saturdays from 3:30pm - 5:30pm
